CELEBRATING WOMEN’S MONTH, BANGSAMORO WOMEN, STRONGER TOGETHER.
Pursuant to Proclamation No. 227 series of 1988 providing for the observance of the Month of March as Women’s Role in History and Republic Act. 6469 series 1990 declaring March 8 of every year as National Women’s Day, the Bangsamoro Regional Government, thru the Bangsamoro Women Commission (BWC), the primary policy-making, coordinating and monitoring body on women and gender and development in the region, will spearhead the month-long celebration from March 2- 31, 2020 with the theme, “We Make Change Work for Bangsamoro Women”.
The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao thru the Bangsamoro Women Commission spearheaded the Kick-off Celebration and Opening Program of the National Women’s Month Celebration with the theme; We Make Change Work for Bangsamoro Women.
The said program were participated by the different ministries and line agencies, CSOs, Peace Partners, Women and Child Protection Desk, UN Partners, and the Gender Based Violence Working Group.
The said celebration was also graced by the different officials in BARMM. The highlight of the Opening Program were; Yells and Cheering Competition and On the Spot Wearing of Veil Contest which was participated by different ministries, where in all the winners will be awarded on the culmination activities, there are several activities which will be conducted by the Commission.
This year’s celebration aims to consolidate all efforts towards strengthening the capacities of Bangsamoro women as active partners in nation building and regional development and to redefine the platform of engagement for women empowerment between and among different stakeholders.
