2024 national women's Month celebration

The 2024 theme for Bangsamoro Women’s Month, “WE for gender equality and inclusive society,” builds on the commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment (GEWE), emphasizing the role of both women and the broader community in achieving these goals. This theme resonates with the accomplishments and aspirations of Bangsamoro women, reinforcing the importance of collaborative efforts towards creating a society that values equality and inclusivity.

The theme aligns with the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028, aiming for inclusive growth and equitable opportunities for all Filipinos, including the Bangsamoro people. It emphasizes the importance of everyone’s participation in fostering an environment that supports women’s rights and empowerment.

Key elements of the theme

• WE (Women and Everyone): This signifies a collective responsibility towards gender equality, emphasizing the role of both women and the broader community in the Bangsamoro region. It highlights the importance of women’s empowerment as a communal effort, involving institutions, partners, and individuals at all levels.

• Gender Equality: The core of the GEWE advocacy, this element stresses the urgency of advancing women’s rights in the Bangsamoro context. It acknowledges the global challenges in achieving gender parity and emphasizes the region’s commitment to accelerating progress towards this goal.

• Inclusive Society: The theme advocates for a society that transcends traditional distinctions, promoting equality and inclusion regardless of SOGIE, class, ability, generation, status, and culture. It envisions a Bangsamoro society where diversity is celebrated, and everyone is encouraged to contribute actively to its development.

The Bangsamoro Women’s Month Celebration is not just a time for reflection but also a call to action for the entire community to support and promote gender equality and women’s empowerment. Through these efforts, the BARMM aims to build a more inclusive, equitable, and prosperous society for all its members.
