In adherence to Section 3, Article III of the RA 11054, mandates the Bangsamoro Government to ensure and support, among other things, the preservation and enrichment of culture of the Bangsamoro people, MP Diamila Disimban-Ramos principally authored Resolution 162, is an expression of the full support of the Bangsamoro Parliament in the ongoing hearing of the legislation of “National Hijab Day, “a symbol to show the Filipino people that “we are united with the National Government in continuing to find a solution to have social inclusion and true and lasting peace throughout the country.” This resolution seeks to support Senator Robinhood Padilla’s Senate Bill No. 1272 and its counterpart House Bill No. 5693 in the House of Representatives, which declares Feb. 1 of every year as National Hijab Day.

Adopted last June 24, 2021, by the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (Parliament), BTA Resolution No. 131 or “Resolution expressing the Deepest Gratitude and Unequivocal support of the Bangsamoro Parliament to Senate Bill No. 2081 and House Bill No. 8249, both “Declaring February 1 of Every Year as National Hijab Day and Promoting an Understanding of the Muslim Tradition of Wearing Hijab” was,

Resolution 131 recognizes that every day is Hijab Day for Muslims, however, the national celebration allows for greater consciousness on a national scale as to what exactly the hijab means for Muslims, that is not just a piece of cloth nor is it something to be afraid of, but rather it is a way of life, a sign of devotion, faith, and piety.

1^st of February 2013, marked the first annual World Hijab Day in recognition of the millions of Muslim women who choose to wear the hijab and live a life of modesty.  The Almighty Allah has obliged women to “guard their modesty and not display their beauty and ornaments except what must ordinarily appear thereof”. The wearing of the hijab is a fulfillment of the said obligation and has become a symbol of respect and integrity for Muslim women all over the world.

The National Hijab Day is a fitting recognition of the role of Filipino Muslim women in national-building and their indispensable contribution to moral governance at all levels of the BARMM government.
