Metro Manila and Pangasinan – The Manila leg of the Bangsamoro Women Commission’s Best Practices Study Tour, funded by the Support to Bangsamoro Transition (SUBATRA) through the support of the European Union in the Philippines, provided valuable insights into various initiatives and programs that promote gender equality and empowerment in the National Capital Region and Pangasinan province. Participants from the BWC, led by the Commission Chairperson Hadja Bainon G. Karon together with the Provincial Commissioners from Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, and Lanao Del Sur, had the opportunity to learn from the organizations and government agencies that have successfully implemented projects addressing the needs and concerns of women in these areas.
Philippine Commission on Women, Pangasinan Provincial Capitol Office, Crisis Intervention Center of Pangasinan Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, Women and Gender Institute of Miriam College, University of the Philippines Diliman Gender Office, Quezon City Gender and Development Council and its various program offices such as the QC Protection Center, Bahay Kanlungan, Klinika Bernardo, and QC Jail Female Dormitory were the identified organizations and government agencies to visit during the study tour.
The 3-day Study Tour conducted on July 25-27, 2023 was packed with learning opportunities and enriching experiences to consider as the participants were able to witness the process, implementation, and outcomes of various initiatives and programs of the different organizations and government agencies that have made significant contributions to Gender Mainstreaming.
