Davao City – United Nations Development Program (UNDP) – Peace Programme Team with the support from developments partners and the government of the UK facilitated a 3-day workshop on Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) for the staff of the Bangsamoro Women Commission held on March 10-12, 2022, in Davao City. This is an integral part of the ongoing process of the Bangsamoro Regional Action Plan which is now on its second phase and has identified its four (4) key pillars, namely:

  1. Protection and Prevention,
  2. Empowerment and Participation,
  3. Promotion and Mainstreaming, and
  4. Monitoring and Evaluation

Krister Fahlstedt, Chetan Kaumar, Dr. Selva Ramachandran, Kathleen Moreno, and UK Ambassador Laure Beaufils are some of the officials from the supporting agencies and organizations namely UNDP, British Embassy Manila, and The UK government among other attendees who expressed full support and continuous commitment with BWC in its efforts with RAPWPS in enhancing the role of the Bangsamoro women.

The workshop aims to capacitate all the attendees to learn the technicalities involving the MEAL processes and their applications. Hence, the facilitators emphasized that by the end of the training the expected purpose and outcome of the following objectives should be optimistically achieved:

  1. Build consensus on the following components of the Bangsamoro RAP-WPS 2020-2022 MEAL:
  2. Results framework and indicators
  3. Assessment/evaluation and learning initiatives
  4. Social accountability, including feedback, mechanisms
  5. Map existing data sources across the results statements and indicators
  6. Develop MEAL work plan for the RAP-WPS 2020-2022, including processes and tools for the RAP-WPS assessment that will be undertaken within March-May 2022
  7. Identify next-steps for the operationalization of the meal system for the RAP-WPS 2020-2022and enhancement of this system for the next cycle of the RAP-WPS 2023-2028
