Quezon City – The Commission can now fluidly integrate gender-responsive considerations into the policy formulation process of the BARMM government following a comprehensive training on “Gender-Responsive Policy Formulation” conducted for the BWC Technical Working Group members.

The training aimed to gain a deeper understanding of fundamental gender concepts, emphasize the critical role of gender equality in development perspectives, conduct thorough assessments to identify practical and strategic gender needs and issues within the BARMM context, and collaboratively formulate an inclusive Bangsamoro Women’s agenda.

Guided by the Miriam College – Women And Gender Institute’s (MC-WAGI) approach through their experienced training experts – Executive Director Dr. Melanie Reyes, Prof. Lorna Q. Israel, Stella Eloisa Marquez-Fong, and Frances Therese G. Zabala, the activity provided a holistic overview of gender analysis frameworks, gender mainstreaming strategies, and best practices in institutionalizing gender and development programs.

BWC Chief of Technical Services Division Ms. Bailyn A. Mastura-Sandayan concluded the activity by emphasizing the importance of embedding gender responsiveness in policy formulation and its impact, noting that the effort may serve as a legacy to the next generation of leaders and is instrumental in achieving the BARMM government’s vision of inclusive and equitable development.
